flood rehabilitation
Engro Foundation joined forces with SRSO, backed by the valuable support of Engro Vopak and Engro Elengy Terminal, to embark on a transformative mission of reconstructing sturdy houses that would not only restore livelihoods but also provide a new beginning for local communities. The primary objective of this project was to rebuild houses that had been completely destroyed during the devastating flash floods and torrential rains of 2022.
Engro Foundation actively engaged the local communities, involving them in the construction process. Through this collaborative effort, we aimed to establish reliable and resilient structures that would serve as a basic yet dignified living solution for the households affected by the floods. We placed special emphasis on the active participation and ownership of women, recognizing their integral role in the success of the project.
The successful reconstruction of 146 houses was achieved through collaboration with SRSO (Sindh Rural Support Organization) on the registered lands of affected households.
Furthermore, seven water tanks have been built across two villages, serving multiple functions including supplying water for livestock, household needs, and as a reserve during water scarcity. The rehabilitation project is valued at an estimated 52.53 million. With over 1200 direct beneficiaries, 174 females have been designated as household recipients, and the Engro Team contributed 270 man-hours to the effort.
drives
A blood donation and ration drive was organized, which demonstrated commitment to supporting both health and humanitarian causes. Through these initiatives, we aimed to contribute positively to our community's well-being by providing essential resources and lifesaving support.
