Karachi, July 8: Engro Vopak Terminal Limited (EVTL) inaugurated the Dream Model Street School – a school in Karachi’s slum settlements near Baldia Town. Dream Model Street School is a project of Dream Foundation.
The Dream Foundation was established by Humaira Bachal when she was only in grade 6. With the support of her friends, she started a school in Muwach Goth near Baldia Town by collecting discarded paper, erasers, sharpeners and pencils in bins and by paving forward the way to education for the young children of the community. The Dream Foundation School currently has a staff of 22 teachers, aged between 13 and 24, who work voluntarily and are active donors of the Foundation itself educating over 300 students.
With generous contributions from Engro Vopak, the Dream Model Street School has now become a purpose-built campus replete with modern and customized furniture and teaching aids that can easily accommodate up to 300 students in shifts while there are plans to further expand the school building.
Speaking at the occasion, Sheikh Imran-ul-Haque, CEO Engro Vopak said, “Engro Vopak has been actively supporting the cause of making quality education accessible to all. We believe that education is the single-most important tool for progress and development. We appreciate Humaira’s initiative and congratulate her for her efforts in changing behaviors and outlook of the local communities through awareness programs targeted at the parents of the children living in the school’s vicinity.”
Humaira Bachal – President, Dream Foundation said, “My only aim is to change the mindset of my community and empower the females so that they can pursue their dreams. Having achieved what we have, we are grateful and thankful to EVTL who were the first ones to help us in our endeavors and successes.”
